Hey up,
Way back in January 2015, NERO (North East Rover Owners) hosted a Land Rover meet at Shildon "Locomotion" Railway Museum.
The event was deemed a success with 47 Land Rovers of all varieties in attendance, including a sizeable number from this parish.
The decision has been made to hold a repeat event on SUNDAY 22nd JANUARY 2017 and annually thereafter.
The museum is free to enter, so when you have bored of Land Rovers (or more likely when your bollocks have frozen off) you can go in the museum for a look round. It is one of the best railway museums in the country and is part of the NRM. They have a good little café which serves hot meals and snacks etc and of course full loo facilities.
Last time round it was an excellent day for meeting up with people you don't see often and meeting people you have not met before, whilst having a casual look round all manner of Land Rovers before heading in to the museum for a hot cup of tea.
The meet will be right outside the main doors in the square, so do not park in the car park.

So the details are:
Sunday 22nd January 2017
Provisional time 10:30 onwards
"Locomotion" Railway Museum, Shildon
DL4 2RE

Further information to follow closer to the time.
I hope to see you there!

We were there last weekend, youngest daughter loved it, especially the Stainer Black 5 after I told her where it featured in 'the Railway Series'.

Might be up for another trip over.

You can't really turn that down can you?

Well, if time and funds permit then we'll likely turn up with one of the Land Rovers.

Who's actually going?
We could convoy it
It's a 10am start over there so it's about a hour from my house
That's probably a half eight from Penrith etc
Who's up for it?
It's a good doo for those who haven't been before
Plenty of stuff to do except Landrovers as well
it's a tough job - but someone has to do it

Quick note it is 10:15 start not 10am.
Quote from NERO
"The following Sunday is our Brass Monkey Land Rover Gathering at the Railway Museum, Shildon.  We might top 75 Land Rovers this year!  Please come along in any Land Rover you may have.  Following the entrance all of the way into the front of the museum.  Do not follow signs for parking as that is located away from the station.

Please come along any time from 10.15am."

Hi all,
We are now less than a week away from the do this Sunday.
We have convoys coming from all over, with interest from lots of different groups.
It would be great to see as many of you as possible.
If anyone requires any more information let me know, but once again the details are:

Shildon "Locomotion" NRM
Shildon
DL4 2RE

Turn up from 10am
Fantastic free entry museum once you get sick of Land Rovers or the cold.
Cracking gift shop and café etc.

I am hoping to top 100 Land Rovers this time so bring your friend(s)!

Cheers

Thank you very much to everyone for coming to Brass Monkeys at the Station today. I am very happy indeed to announce that we managed 123 Land Rovers of all types and 1 Austin Gypsy! We have also raised £61.62 for the Great North Air Ambulance and I am confident the museum donations and Cafe takings will be significantly higher than the average Sunday in January! I have thoroughly enjoyed the day and I hope you all have too. I look forward to seeing you all next year for an even bigger and better Brass Monkeys!
Thanks to CCL for sending over a convoy.  The support is appreciated!
