Cumbria Classic Landrovers

I'm new on here but a few of you know me from elsewhere.

I hope this post is ok, Nick can delete it if it's out of order.

I've been busy making tool rolls and bags etc out of the tents I couldn't mend.

I have attempted a couple of tool rolls to folks' own design, the last one ending up over seven feet long. (Photo's to follow when I've wrestled with photo buckkit).

The next couple of projects will be heavy side tent/awnings for 109 landies.

I have been in contact with a supplier of wood burning samovars and can offer them to forum members at £60 a pop if we can generate a large enough order.

The system is like a rocket stove with a fire compartment beneath a boiling chamber. The smoke/flames rise through the chimney which is part of the boiling chamber. A lid keeps the ash out of the water and the extra chimney part increases the draw. There's a place on the lid to sit your tea pot/kettle to warm it up.

A pot stand is available for another £15 which will alow you to place a pan over the chimney so you can cook whilst the water heats up.

I bought three samovars as samples and have found homes for five so far.

When I tested mine with 4 ltrs of water, two tins of curry and 250g of rice in sachets in the boiling vessel it went from cold to boiling over in 17 mins, running on twigs.

I shall take my samovar to Shell Island and I suspect another will be in attandance too.

Please contact me by pm or on here if you would like to order one, at £60 they are cheaper than eBay, getting them sent to one address helped keep the postage cost down. They can be distributed by forum relay or I can get them to certain events over the next few months.

If we can order twenty units, I can get the price down to £55 a pop.
