Hello Chris. Welcome to the gang.
I'm in the Eden valley to just up the road at Knock. You've got a nice looking truck. Vibrations sounds like UJs and props. I would investigate those first and grease whilst your at it!
I've got some 90 stills knocking around. They are green and got a few scratches but paint them up in blue, cut them down slightly and they'll be a treat! They come in two sections so easy to cut.

I hadn't gone off-road, a BMW owner abandoned his in the middle of the road. A large drift built up behind it that was impassable. As a result, I lost forward momentum and grip and slid
to the side of the road. Let tyres down, dug down to tarmac, tried waffles but the snow filled in the empty spaces to fast, hence why I had to be dug out (not pulled) by a front loader tractor. I had gone up there to meet a guy from Hexham to sell him some tyres. When I got up there, I assisted loads of stuck motorists, mostly BMW drivers and got a 12t recovery wagon moving again. I had just got caught out by the heavy 80mph blizzard and draft BMW drivers.

Poor Jason!  He did this on the last lane, High Tilberthwaite. After the second group fell apart, they got lost and ened up doing the lane the wrong way round. Jason had an epic 'Lack of Tallent' and common sence moment just as the first group were coming down to meet them. He ended up sliding off a cross axel rocky slope into the earth banking. Word on the grapevine is that he had it bashed out that night and re-sprayed. still got a scar though. I think he's looking for a new wing.  It was a great day! Wore me out with organising it!! And I didn't expect so many to turn up either!! Thanks for coming and making it a grand day out. And Thanks for Good Doug gone Bad! for getting us into trouble!!! West Cumbrians are very protective of their verges!

The LDLRM team formally invite you to the first monthly meet of 2016.
Same place, same time.
The Beehive, Eamont bridge, Penrith, CA10 2BX @ 7pm on Wednesday 2nd February.
Diversions in place via Brougham A66 due to Bridge closure.
Both CCL and LDLRM have an exciting year ahead. Some pop along with your Landrover for a good old chat about our favourite subject.

Jackyboys turn. Jees the puddles filled up fast.
Taking advice from Good Doug, Jackyboy takes it easy and slowly approaches the puddle. Creating a perfect bow wave he pushes gently through. Yepp it's up to the windscreen and in true Landrover style the door seals have given way to the ingressing dirty muddy water. Jackyboys not bothered, he's got a snorkel but suddenly the engine struggles and grinds to a halt.
O dear god. The waters rising. Jackyboys engine won't start!! He's going to drown inside his cab. He's sat waist deep in mucky water. He gets out soaked and climbs onto the bonnet.
St Nick and Bad Doug are in fits of giggles on the dry bank. Jackys crying and shivering with cold. Good Doug throws Jacky the winch line and pulls him out.
The coilers TD5 is not starting. Shivering to death, jacky snuggles up to Hotchy big fluffy dogs to keep warm. Bonnet up again, the boys are scratching their heads at the modern electronic controlled engine of the Td5.
Bad Doug quick draws a pocket size can of wd40 from its holster on his belt. He finds a strange metal box with hundreds of wires growing from it under the drivers seat. He sprays the strange looking box with lashings of the magic spary. Suddenly the Td5 roars into life! It's a Td5 alive!!!

In terms of catering stuff. Anyone know any scout groups? They may be willing to donate/sell stuff. My old scout group back in the day had massive gas powered boilers, marquees vast pots and pans for cooking for 40+! Those were the days.

Howdy all, Benson and I are placing a bulk order for some handheld VHF/UHF radios. It's short notice but orders need to be placed by Wednesday 2nd December!! The model is a Beofeng GT-3 Mk III radios. The kit comprises of: - Beofeng GT-3 Mk III radio - 7.4V 1800mAh Li-ion Battery - SainSonic INF-641 Antenna - SainSonic AD-10 car charger - Desktop/Dashtop Charger ( 100V ~ 240V ) - Mains Power Adapter (UK) - Handsfree Kit - User Manual RRP £49.99 for the kit. With our bulk order, we get them at £28.99 each!! We tested the model previous to these, Beofeng UV-5R, whilst on a greenlaning trip and found them so useful and so much better than the CB radios. These handheld radios have a much clearer signal and better receiving reception than CB radios. There is no crackling or squelch in the transmission. And due to the 128 pre-programmed channels, there is less likelihood of interference from other users. You can get PMR licence to further reduce unwanted traffic and program extra private channels to these sets, you also get a larger range. The average battery life is 4hrs but we used them all day and they were still shown full bars without charging which are much better than cheap handheld walkie-talkie things and constant supply of AAA batteries. The signal strength is fantastic, the un-licenced UHF channels working at 0.5W ERP (Effective Radiated Power)have a range of 8KM. These radios are capable of 8.0W ERP which basically means you've got a UHF/VHF range of about 128KM (more than enough). The benefits of these radios are that you can mount and charge them in your vehicle whilst driving and when your off-road, your passenger can use them outside the vehicle when spotting or as we found useful, walk head to assess the lane and relay info back to the drivers to continue or turn around. Most people are buying x2 radios (one for vehicle, one for spotter), Beofeng sell all sorts of accessories including vehicle aerials and handheld mics which you can get for a few quid off fleebay. If you don't tend to go laning on your own, then buy one and you'll be able to communicate with everyone else in the group with ease and clarity. These will be especially useful when in Hotchys quarry for example for general Vehicle to Vehicle chat and also spotting for those hidden stumps!! The GT-3s are far superior to the UV-5Rs. We have our own radio guru (Commander Dunc - NW4x4Response) who will pre-programme the radios for you. This really is a steal of a deal.
