Cumbria Classic Landrovers

Getting a bit ahead. But looking forward to another Wednesday run out in a couple of weeks. Had  a tete a tete with jack and we reckon there's a good run out to be had not far from Penrith in the shap area. Must leave more time for the pub this time👍

I think we'll be looking at the 19th Aug as a possible date??

About two weeks after the Landrover Monthly Meet on Aug 5th. Remember Aug is Leafers vs Coilers. The competition is on. The numbers decide. If you have a series, show your support and enthusiasm for the classic breed and bring it along! Landrovers aren't shed ornaments you know!

Wednesday the 19th looks good for me as well - thats it about nailed on then. Will bring the maps and highlighters along on the 5th to the beehive - might have to get the old disco and the wolf along to score 2 for the springers....

More recovery straps will be available fairly soon

They are all ex lifting straps and very strong
You will have to get your own d shackles of course

I know so far theres me, jack , derek, Steve.... any other takers...... ? a severe case of coilers over leafers here! it was a draw at the last monthly meet. new faces new series to oggle! hope you lot can make it. looking forward to meeting up with the cumbria classic land rover gang again

What a night. It seemed like a winters night when we set off from the car park. Due to the conditions we decided to go straight to Breast high lane and if time permitted do the minor lanes on the return leg. Got down to the lane and all went well. Water in the ford was only about a foot deep. Most saw a trail bike do a somersault about 300 yards ahead of us. We got up to help him but he was OK and got on his way. The big left hander was very loose and greasy. I took a couple of runs at it ( must remember to engage diff lock !!) Then everyone followed. Traction control on the td5 made it look a breeze. V8 88 made a lovely rumble. Descent went well. Longer vehicles took a couple of shunts to get through the narrow gateway. One of the concrete Gulley's was badly washed out on the downside. We did a bit of backfilling to leave it in a better state than we started - and to make the return easier. When we got to the bottom we decided to call it a day - the weather, falling light and minor mechanical on the 88 made the decision to get back to the beehive an easy one. Jack got some top footage of the evening - hopefully someone technical can set up a link to it.
